The Garden Year: August 2023

Well, it was all change for me in July - and a new garden too. We moved house at the start of the month, and so gardening has been few and far between. Not least because I needed to find which box my gardening tools were in first!

But I found them, and was able to pot on a plant which dad had been growing for me - we think it’s a nectarine that he’s grown from the pip, so that will be interesting to watch develop. And it’s already quite big given that it’s only eighteen months in. I’ve also started to reshape the plants in one part of the garden, to stop them growing into each other and bring back some of the definition. I’ll be sharing a post on my new garden soon, so look out for that and it’s quite likely not what you might expect, but in the meantime I’ve linked up a post on my rather nice new garden wall.

Have a great month!

The Garden Year: July 2023

June was definitely a good month weather wise - and a good month to enjoy our garden. The roses have been fantastic and it’s said that they’re better for the cold and then wet winter which has meant they had a complete rest and then there were less bugs around than normal. Who knows, it sounds plausible - but either way we’re enjoying a bumper flowering of roses on our patio.

In our garden it’s been about maintaining the status quo, and enjoying the flowers. First the roses came (and came), then the purple clematis, the hydrangeas started as did the sweet peas, and then boom the jasmine. It’s scent is amazing - and still reminds me of balmy evenings on holiday in Seville many years ago.

I’ve still plenty of photos to share from Gardeners’ World Live, but am slower than ever following my operation so please bear with me. Plus I’ll have something new to share really soon, so please hang around for that.

Have a good month enjoying whatever you have planned in your garden and those you visit.

The Garden Year: June 2023

Welcome back to this month’s Garden Year linky - if you were here last month, it was great to see you. If you’re joining for the first time, you’re very welcome. The linky will stay open for the whole month, so I hope you’ll pop back during the month. I’m looking forward to reading about your garden projects and garden visits.

Last month I said that May was the month that we tended to visit more gardens, and starting from the end of April with the Gardeners’ World Spring Fair we have definitely upped our garden visiting game with visits also to Exbury Gardens, Chartwell (briefly), Belton and Mottisfont, and I’ll have posts from all of those at some point.

I hope you’ve been able to enjoy your garden, and even better enjoy someone else’s - sometimes that can be so much more relaxing. May ended with a warm spurt of weather, let’s hope June can continue and even outdo it’s predecessor.
